Nau mai, haere mai to another wonderful day of learning in Year 0/1 at Elm Park School. Here are

today’s tasks;

Literacy:

Reading:

Today we will be reading a Maori Legend “How Maui Stole the Sun”. Click the link below to listen to

the story. What Te Reo words did you hear in this story?

Writing:

This week we are learning to stretch our sentences by including the 5 W’s in our writing (who, what, when, where, why).

Can you retell the story of How Maui Stole the Sun? Include as many of the 5 W’s as you can. You

might be able to write these ideas down independently or you might like to share them with someone

in your bubble who could help you to write your sentence. Just do your best. :)

Check out this fabulous video of Room 6 counting to 100 in Te Reo Maori. Ka pai mihi!

Ask a grown up if you can download the kupu app on a device at your home. Scan various things and

the app will tell you the Te Reo word for it. I wonder how many words you can learn today!

Inquiry:

In Year 0/1 we have been learning about how to keep ourselves safe. Now we are focusing on

Education Outside of the Classroom (EOTC). In the video below Mrs Kirby shares some great

ideas about what clothes we should wear outside to keep ourselves safe. Check it out and try the

activity at the end of the video
