Term 3 Week 5 - Monday

Welcome to another wonderful day of learning in Year 0/1 at Elm Park School. Here are today’s tasks;

Literacy:

Reading:

Pick a word/alphabet letter from the list in the back of your homework book.

Read it out, whisper it, shout it. Now try some of the following activities:

  • Write it in chalk

  • Make it with playdough

  • Paint it with water

  • Rainbow write it

Writing:

This week’s learning intention is;

We are learning to put our capital letters in the right place.

Take a look at this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo2xZskgdP4

Your teacher would love to hear about the exciting things you have been doing at home in your bubble.

Someone at your house might like to help you by writing your sentence down for you to copy.

You may be able to write a sentence, or even a page all by yourself! Just do your best :)

Remember to check that your capital letters are in the right place!

Feel free to take a photo and email your writing to your classroom teacher.

Numeracy:

Today our learning intention is:

We are learning to form our numbers correctly.

You might like to do this with a pencil, crayons, paint, chalk or playdough. Use what you have! The important thing is to make sure that each of your digits are facing the right way.

You might like to ask someone to write these out for you to copy or you may be able to do this

independently. How many numbers can you write?

Science:

Follow the recipe below to make your own super simple, no-cook playdough. You’ll get the opportunity to use this for other activities throughout the week.

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 cup boiling water (you will need a grown up’s help)

  • 2 tsp cream of tartar

  • ⅓ cup salt

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil

  • Food colouring of your choice

Combine the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Add the hot water and vegetable oil and food colouring. Stir the mixture until it resembles a large ball of dough. Tip the playdough onto the bench and knead all the lumps out. If your mixture is too sticky add some more flour. If it is too dry and will not stick together then add a little more water.

Physical Education:

After watching the Olympics earlier in the term, many of our students became fascinated with gymnastics and wanted to try out some of their amazing moves.

Watch this video and see if you can master some of these tumbles.

PB4L Values:

Elm Park School has three very important values; Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

This term we are learning how to show resilience. Today we will be learning to identify and manage our emotions.

Watch this video “A Little Spot of Emotions” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC3SQnoggjM

Think about what feelings you have felt before?

Can you name them?

How can we help ourselves to make good choices when we’re feeling these big emotions?

Thank you so much for learning with us today. Tune back in tomorrow for some more distance

learning lessons with your Year 0/1 teachers. :)
