Welcome to another wonderful day of learning in Year 0/1 at Elm Park School. Here are today’s tasks; 


Literacy:

Today’s read aloud is inspired by Father’s Day which is on Sunday. Watch the video below to read

Writing: 


In the story Mrs Yates read to us today the children were discussing how fabulous their Dads were.

For writing today I want you to think about the things that make your Dad special. We will use these ideas

to write a simile poem. Use the template below to help you. 



Remember to use your alphabet card to help you record the sight words and sounds. 

Feel free to take a photo and email your writing to your classroom teacher. 


Numeracy: 


This term Year 0/1 have been learning about measurement for our strand maths. 


Today’s learning intention is: 

We are learning to directly compare the area of two objects. 


Family and whānau,

This week we have been exploring the space (area) that different objects cover. We have been

talking this using words like "the most space" the "least amount of space."

Please help your child draw around the feet or shoes of people in your family. Once the outlines

are cut out ask them to put the outlines in order according to the space that they cover. Whose

foot print covers the most space and whose covers the smallest space? 


Craft: 


Remember that Father’s Day is on SUNDAY! If you haven’t already made a card then now would be a

Inquiry: 


Year 0/1 have been learning about natural disasters as part of our inquiry topic this term. 

Today we are going to be learning what to do in an earthquake.

Here are today’s tasks;    Literacy:    Reading:   Today we will be listening to our lovely student teacher from Room 6, Miss Tubalado.
